Global heating accelerating

Global warming is not just happening, it's accelerating rapidly.
That means the impacts and consequences are accelerating as well.

So, up from ~0.2 per decade to ~0.3 per decade.  Note that the 2023 datum is only so far this year (Jan-Sept).    The rest of this year is likely to push this year's average up even further, because of El Niño, taking us beyond 1.5 degrees above the 1850-1900 average.  Already.  Long before 2040.

And still we permit emissions to rise.  Still we make excuses for inaction.  Still we allow oil and gas companies to buy politicians.
