No real progress since Paris

The 2015 Paris climate accord was supposed to lead to falling emissions.  In fact, since then, global emissions have risen, despite good efforts by Europe and the US, because of rapid economic growth in Asia.  For emissions to peak, we must stop burning coal to generate electricity, and that means we must build no new coal power stations anywhere, ever again.  And to halve emissions by 2035, emissions must fall by a compound 5% per annum.  They fell more than that in 2020, but that was due to the pandemic, and they have prolly completely rebounded in 2021.  Governments and companies pay lip service to the net-zero by 2050 goal, but are not, for the most part, taking the steps needed to achieve it.
