From The Economist
Emissions dropped sharply (5.8%) during 2020 because of Covid. The IEA is forecasting that almost all that decline will be reversed in 2021. I haven't done the numbers, but I wonder whether global emissions have in fact peaked, because of the rising percentage of electricity generation from renewables and the increasing penetration of EVs. Yes, emissions will rise this year. But will they rise next year, and the year after? Or have global emissions finally peaked?
