Global EV (pure electric) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric) sales continue to rise, even though US sales have levelled off (waiting for Tesla Model 3 and the new extended-range Nissan Leaf?). The year on year growth rate is around 42%, which means that sales are doubling every 2 years. This growth rate will pick up as Tesla Model 3 production ramps up, and as the new Nissan Leaf starts selling. EVs and PHEVs now make up 1.6% of global car sales, and at current growth rates will reach 100% of world car sales by 2030. More on that in my next post.
