Solar panels would require < 0.01% of Oz's land

The soft denialists ("Yes, global warming is real, but it would be too hard to do anything to stop it, so let's just go on using coal")  state that solar panels would have to cover the whole country to provide us with enough electricity.  This is rubbish.  (For example, rooftop solar in South Australia provides 20% of the State's electricity.  Just panels on rooftops.)

From Dr Ian Mackay, using data from the Clean Energy Council:

๐ŸŒž Total land required to replace coal fired energy ๐ŸŒž Example assumes all solar:120,000 hectares ๐ŸŒž That’s less than 0.016 percent of Australia’s total land currently used for agriculture [i.e., less than 0.01% of Oz's total land area] ๐ŸŒž Australian agriculture currently accounts for 58% of our land use ๐ŸŒžAnd agrisolar = panels + grass/sheep etc
