From a tweet by John Kennedy
Six global surface temperature datasets. Three of them have 2022 as the 5th warmest year on record. The other three have it as 6th warmest. All of them agree that the past eight years 2015 to 2022 were the eight warmest years on record.
2022 was a La Niña year, so it was cooler than it would otherwise have been. If 2023 is an El Niño year, it is possible it will be the hottest ever recorded.
Temperatures have risen roughly 1.2 degrees C since pre-industrial times.
