Elon Musk announced Tesla's version several years ago with much hoopla. But they don't seem to have gone anywhere.
This video shows a new kind of solar tile, which still looks like a solar panel rather than a tile, but can be nailed to the roof, just like ordinary shingles. The manufacturers are coy on the cost, but say that it will be cheaper than building a roof and then putting tiles on it. I'm not sure how you would stop them flapping up and down in a strong wind, since they are only attached on one side. On the other hand, they require much less training to install. If, when they are released for sale, they are as cheap as normal tiles, they'll be a winner.
