An interesting chart, from The New Statesman The horizontal axis shows the daily number of cases/deaths as each 'wave' built. The vertical axis shows the day of each wave.
Being vaccinated appears to have had little effect on the number of Covid cases per 100K of the population between the first and second waves. But the number of deaths per 10 million is so different, it looks as if the edge of the chart has been cut off. Moral of the story: you can still get Covid even if you have been vaccinated, but you are much less likely to die.
Note that just over 80% of the UK population has received their first dose, and about 2/3rds their second. (Source: The BBC)
