2019 third hottest? Or second?

The chart is from NOAA, and shows the average global temperature anomaly from June to May for each year since 1970.

After the 2016 El Niño, global average temperatures have fallen a little, just as they did after the 1998 El Niño.  However, ominously, temperatures have started to rise again, and 2019 looks as if it will be the third hottest ever measured.  There is a risk that it might even be the second hottest.  Either way, the trend remains very clearly up,  by 0.18 C per decade.  The 5 hottest years all took place in the last 5 years.
