India's new coal slumps

 From Robbie Andrews

A huge bulk of India's coal power was built from 2010-2016. These are new plants: is there really any chance they might be retired early? [Yes, as solar and wind get cheaper.  But not for another 5 to 10 years, in my opinion.]

2020 has seen much lower generation capacity additions in India. New renewables are needed to push existing and new coal out. [That will happen.  Renewables are just so much cheaper than coal. And the trend for net additions to coal generating capacity is clearly down.]
