NATO defence spending

 From Jabberwocking (Kevin Drum)

Trump maintains that within NATO, only the US spends more than 2% as a percentage of GDP on defence. In fact, only 8 out of 31 NATO countries spends less than 2%, though 3 big economies (Spain, Italy and Canada) are among them.  Given the threat to Europe from Russia, it's likely that defence
spending relative to GDP will go on rising.

Not that that will stop Trump from making threats to withdraw from NATO.  But at least other countries will be better able to defend themselves.  NATO without the USA will be strange, but if its members pull together, perfectly doable.
