These data are from the Japan Meteorological Agency. Other analysts, for example NOAA, may produce slightly different estimates. Note that 2020 was a La Niña year, which are normally cooler than average. That the 2020 number is higher than it was during the 2015-16 El Niño is, frankly, terrifying.
