A chart from Melbourne's The Age newspaper.
No new coronavirus cases for the last 3 days, and the seven-day average is just 18 cases and falling. The authorities are still afraid that too rapid a loosening of lockdown will cause a second wave of new cases, but lockdown is to gradually be removed. The aim is to test everybody with symptoms and isolate them and their contacts to prevent the renewed spread of the virus. Australia has the advantage that it has no land borders and that it has a government which despite being right-wing, has listened to expert advice. There's something to be said for experts, a class of people the Right, especially in the USA, despises.
