Germany at 41.4% renewables
In the first 6 months of this year, Germany reached 41% of renewables in its grid. Look at how the percentage has steadily risen since 2002. Note how the percentage has doubled since 2010 from 19.2% to 41.4%. With current wind, solar and battery costs, it's easy to envisage another 20% rise over the next 8 years, and a further 20% rise in the 8 years thereafter, taking Germany to over 80% by 2035. Actually, it will prolly happen faster than that because the costs of renewables are so compelling. When Germany started on this road, the naysayers said, well, it's only at 8%. Call that a renewables revolution! Yet step by step Germany is moving its economy towards a carbon-free future. After electricity generation, the next big emitter is transport, and again, the fall in costs will help the transition.
